These popular hire cars in Croatia cover one kind of trip each, and every one of them was listed at all five airports for hire from 20 to 27 October and from 23 to 28 November 2026. They are a selection, not the whole choice: for hire from 5 October to 19 October 2026 the search held 53 different models at Split, 48 at Zagreb, 53 at Dubrovnik, 42 at Zadar and 25 at Pula, and the same search covers car hire from each pick-up airport. It shows every car available for your dates.
Both are on offer at every airport, and the gearbox is set per car, never by model name, so check it on the car you choose. Across all models, 44 of the 79 cars at the Zagreb pick-up were automatics for hire from 5 October to 19 October 2026, against 34 at Split, 45 at Dubrovnik, 22 at Zadar and 20 at Pula.

The seat count is set per car and shown on it before you pay, so read it there rather than going by the model name. In the same search 15 cars with seven seats or more were listed at Split and 17 at Zagreb. A tall vehicle costs more on the motorway: a two-axle vehicle over 1.90 m high with a maximum mass up to 3,500 kg is toll Class II, against Class I for an ordinary car. Jadrolinija car ferry fares also rise above 5.00 m long or 2.00 m high.

No. Free cancellation, the deposit, the card rule and any mileage limit are set per car, and the mix differs from one pick-up to the next. The table counts, for hire from 5 October to 19 October 2026, how many of the cars listed for each pick-up carried each term.
| Pick-up | Cars listed | Free cancellation | No credit card required | No deposit | No stated mileage limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Split | 84 | 75 | 75 | 31 | 68 |
| Zagreb | 79 | 71 | 61 | 30 | 63 |
| Dubrovnik | 79 | 70 | 58 | 24 | 77 |
| Zadar | 48 | 39 | 48 | 23 | 48 |
| Pula | 35 | 35 | 23 | 23 | 35 |
Counted from the search for 5 October to 19 October 2026, checked 2 October 2026. A car counted in one column need not qualify in another.
No deposit means the listing carried a deposit of zero; on the other cars the amount is set per car and shown before you pay. No stated mileage limit means the listing set neither a daily nor a total limit. Where a listing does set one, it is shown on the car, and a one-way between cities such as Zagreb to Dubrovnik is 605 km on its own, so on a long trip read it before you book.
A car that does not need a credit card may take a debit card instead. The rental conditions still ask for a physical, personalised and embossed card in the main driver's name, and the booking states which kind the car accepts.
It depends on the car. The driver's minimum age and driving experience are set per car and shown on it before you pay, and the conditions say they can vary even between similar models. The deposit, the card rule, the cancellation terms and the coverage options are set per car in the same way, while hire car insurance in Croatia at the standard level leaves the same four parts uncovered on every car: the wheels, the undercarriage, the windscreen and the interior.
It is set per car. For hire from 5 October to 19 October 2026, 68 of the 84 cars at Split and 63 of the 79 at Zagreb set no mileage limit, and any limit a car does carry is shown on it before you pay.
Some companies accept one, and when they do it is stated during booking and in the voucher. The debit card has to be physical, personalised and embossed, in the main driver's name.
